Baktún: World’s First Maya Telenovela
“Buktún,” the world’s first Maya language telenovela premiered last week at Mexico’s Museo de Antropología to great fanfare.
The 30-episode series is part of a project to promote the Maya language to a younger generation of urbanized Maya.
Producers are reportedly making plans to distribute “Baktún” in Peru, Bolivia and other South American countries with large indigenous-speaking communities.
